Refractory bricks are built inside the hazardous waste incineration rotary kiln to protect the rotary kiln from direct hazards due to high temperature and corrosion during hazardous waste incineration. The properties of Refractory Materials for Hazardous Waste Rotary Kilns depend on the composition and distribution of their phases and the chemical characteristics of each phase. The main chemical components of refractory bricks used in general hazardous waste incineration rotary kilns include high alumina bricks, magnesia bricks, magnesia alumina bricks, and silica bricks. Since the main components of silicon-alumina refractories are mullite and corundum, the main components are SiO and AlO. The alkali metals contained in the hazardous waste can react with refractory bricks to generate nepheline-like substances and cause the volume expansion of refractory bricks. It may also cause the melting point to decrease, which in turn increases the corrosion effect on the refractory bricks, and accelerates the thinning rate of the refractory bricks, and shortens the service life.

Pure magnesia refractories have very poor resistance to alkaline residues. However, when magnesia-alumina spinel is added to magnesia materials, it can well prevent the permeability of alkaline residues to refractory materials. And as the amount of magnesia-alumina spinel added increases, the penetration resistance will gradually become stronger, but the additional amount should not exceed 20%.

After studying the reaction characteristics of alkali metals and refractory materials, the results show that changes in temperature, excess air coefficient, Cl content, and S content will all affect the migration of alkali metals. Therefore, it is recommended to choose composite components according to the actual situation when selecting molded refractories. Rotary kilns work by processing material in a rotating drum at high temperatures for a specified retention time to cause a physical change or chemical reaction in the material being processed. The kiln is set at a slight slope to assist in moving material through the drum.

Direct-fired kilns utilize direct contact between the material and process gas to efficiently process the material. Combustion can occur in a combustion chamber to avoid direct flame radiation, or the flame can be directed down the length of the kiln.

Indirect-fired kilns are used for various processing applications, such as when processing must occur in an inert environment, when working with finely divided solids, or when the processing environment must be tightly controlled.

Calcination refers to the process of heating a material to a temperature that will cause chemical dissociation (chemical separation). This process is used frequently in the creation of inorganic materials, for example, the dissociation of calcium carbonate to create calcium oxide and carbon dioxide.

Thermal desorption is also a separation process. This process uses heat to drive off a volatile component, such as a pesticide, from an inorganic mineral, such as sand. The component is vaporized at the increased temperature, causing a separation without combustion. In some cases, an indirect rotary kiln would be best for this application, because the volatile chemicals may be combustible. The indirect kiln will supply the heat for desorption, without the material coming into direct contact with the flame.

Organic combustion refers to the treatment of organic wastes with the intent of reducing mass and volume. Organic waste is treated in the kiln, leaving behind an ash with considerably less mass and volume. This allows for more efficient and effective deposit of waste materials into landfills.

Sintering is the process of heating a raw material to the point just before melting. This increases the strength of the material, and is commonly used in the proppant industry, where sand or ceramic materials are made stronger.

Heat setting involves bonding a heat resistant core mineral with another, less heat resistant coating material. Unlike an unheated coating process, here, a rotary kiln heats the coating material to just below liquefaction point, allowing it to coat the heat resistant core more evenly and more securely. This process is commonly seen in the manufacture of roofing granules, where a mineral such as granite is coated with a colored pigment, producing a product that is both durable and aesthetically pleasing.

Reduction roasting is the removal of oxygen from a component of an ore usually by using carbon monoxide (CO). The CO is typically supplied by mixing a carbonaceous material such as coal or coke with the ore or by feeding it separately. Examples are the reduction roasting of a hematite containing material to produce magnetite that can be magnetically separated. With the increase of plant scale and production capacity, the size and capacity of the crushers, cement mills, rotary kilns, and other machines in the cement plant also increase correspondingly. Therefore, the increase of plant scale should be accompanied by the growth and development of cement manufacturing machinery so as to maintain or even improve the efficiency and productivity of cement plants.

Compared with mini cement production lines, large cement plants have higher energy consumption. But take into account their output, they actually have a higher energy utilization rate and production efficiency, which can save production costs for cement manufacturers in the long run. Also, the operating efficiencies of large plants are high. The fuel consumption is around 650 700 kcal/kg clinker; power consumption is between 65-80 kWh/ton, and man-hours required per ton of cement are as low as 0.15.

AGICO large cement plants are best suited for manufacturing cement by dry process. The cement-making machines in our large cement plants include cement crushers, cyclone preheating systems, rotary kilns, cement mills, and other auxiliary equipment.

The purpose of raw material preparation in the dry process of cement manufacturing is to reduce large-sized raw materials to the proper size and mix them into homogenized raw meals. We will install the most suitable crushing machinery in the cement plant according to the raw materials and production requirements of customers, so as to achieve economic and green production as much as possible.

The application of cyclone preheating system in cement plant hugely reduces the heat loss and fuel consumption in the clinker burning process, and also significantly reduces the floor area and pollution emission of the whole plant.

The 5-stage cyclone preheater is the most installed preheating system in our large cement plants. According to customers requirements, we could design other stage preheaters for the cement plant. The cyclone preheater uses hot exhaust gas from the rotary kiln as its heat source. Before entering the rotary kiln, the cement raw meal heat exchanges with the high-temperature gas in the preheater to preheat.

The rotary kiln is where the burning phase of the cement manufacturing process takes place; it is the core part of a cement plant. The raw meal in the rotary kiln will be heated to 1,500 during the burning process to form cement clinker.

The production capacity of a cement plant is directly determined by the capacity of the rotary kiln. Our large rotary kilns can fully meet the requirement of bulk cement production. Together with the advanced preheating system, our rotary kilns could achieve high rotary speed and high output per unit volume. The good sealing effect of our rotary kilns allows them to fully recycle the waste heat and produce high-quality clinker.

Cement mills are used for raw material reduction and cement grinding in the cement manufacturing process. The cement grinding process is the final manufacturing stage at a cement plant. After this process, the clinker will become fine cement powders and ready to be packed.

The most used cement mills in our large cement plants are cement ball mills and vertical roller mills. Both of them can well undertake the task of cement grinding, we will take their production efficiencies, power consumptions, investment costs, product particle shapes and sizes, maintenance fees, and other elements into account and decide which one to use when designing a cement plant.
