In maintaining the Salts legacy, we apply rigirous testing to all the cloth in our ranges. Using only local mills that meet the Salts standard, every one of our cloths is designed by experienced local designers who utilise a library of pattern books which date back to 1872.

Construction of Salts Mill was started in 1851 and completed in 1853. The mill had 1,200 looms and 3,000 workers, and at that time it was the largest mill in the world., producing 30,000 yards of cloth every single day. Sir Titus also created a town for his workers so that they could live more comfortably.

View the ranges inspired by the illustrious Salt's brand - a wide range of fabrics are available, from suitings to jacketings, coatings and linens. Bunches are available in all ranges, with the distinctive Salts purple branding. We ship same day if orders are placed before 1pm.

Cloth production at Salts finally ceased in 1986, and the following year the mill was purchased by the late Jonathan Silver, who re-imagined it as a place where culture and commerce could thrive together.

The 1853 Gallery - named after the year the mill opened - is unique. It displays many of local (and internationally renowned) artist David Hockney's paintings, etchings, and drawings. Art materials and art books are for sale too, dotted around this vast and inspiring space. Like all of the Mill it's free to enter.

If you enjoy shopping, then take time to explore the many independent shops in the mill which include everything from bikes and outdoor gear, to antiques and jewellery. Stroll around the Salts Book and Poster shop and browse in The Home a luxury home ware and furniture shop.
